RECORDMEN IRONBIG GROUP
03-05-2011What a winning challenge this 1st of may 2011 on the slopes of the Vijlenerbos ! What a success for a group of 5 dutch members trying to win altogether the mythic amount of 25 climbs a day with this big number 109 !
Recordmen they are, because it's the greatest godfather's group in one day on the same place !
Recordmen because this group countains the youngest current godfather, 18 years old, Daan ter Horst. The other ones are Wim Van Els, Roland Schuyer, Stan Nijsten and Helmuth Dekkers.

Our secretary, Helmuth, godfather for the second time, wrote us this text : "
Me and Daan got up at 05:45 this morning and we arrived at the foot
of the Vijlenerbosweg in Camerig at 07:00 as agreed with Stan,
Roland and Wim. Stan was there at 07:00 also and Roland arrived
shortly after. When Wim arrived we could get going.
We started at 07:25 and cycled the Vijlenerbosweg from Camerig to
Vijlen and back in sets of 3 and hence we had cyled 6 ascents in a
set. Then we had a short break before we took on another set of
3 which we had done at ~10:40. We did another set of 2 before
we had a lunch break so we were at 14. After lunch we did a set
of 2 1/2 (to be able to end in Camerig again) and we were at 19
around 13:20. The last 8 were less easy of course but we were
at the top of Vijlenerbosweg at 15:25. So it took us 8 hours
including breaks to cycle 118.5km and ~3150 altimeters (based
on our website).
Misson accomplished. Arrival at the top:
Stan Nijsten (2nd Iron BIG for him too)
Daan ter Horst (Only 18 years old, youngest Godfather!)
Helmuth Dekkers (Iron Secretary)
Wim van Els
Roland Schuyer.
Fortunately Stan's knee held up well and Roland and me did not
have any problems related to the fall we both made recently.
