2012 : SUMMARY OF THE YEAR (2/4)
22-12-2012Here is the summary of the year 2012 in 4 chapters, just like every year : the events, the evolution, the website and the material.
2. The evolution
a) The amount of members increased a lot those last years due to the easiness to subscribe through the website. We decided 2 years ago to slow this increasing with the goal to give us some time to increase the quality and to be ready with a solid basis to increase one more time after 2015.
Let's see the numbers themselves of those last 10 years
2003 : 277 (+84)
2004 : 360 (+83)
2005 : 440 (+80)
2006 : 535 (+95)
2007 : 634 (+98)
This period shows some stability in the increasing during the life of our old website (subscription through an excel file to fill personally)
2008 : 1863 (+1229)
2009 : 2665 (+802)
2010 : 3398 (+733)
2011 : 3992 (+694)
2012 : 4424 (+432)
This period shows a big boom with an higher yearly increasing than before but a decreasing of those increasing numbers.
b) The quality of this increasing can't be shown simply by those numbers, but also by the implication of those members in the big's collection. Some members subscribe and afterwards forget their subscription. But what about the results since the birth of the new website (5 years ago).
Members with more than 500 bigs : 3 (end 2007) --> 13 (end 2012)
Members with more than 164 bigs = 70 (end 2007) --> 154 (end 2012)
Members with more than 30 bigs = 398 (end 2007) --> 1361 (end 2012)
The amount of members increased with a factor 700% but the results increased only with a factor of 400%. It's good but that means that many subscribed members aren't implicated or motivated in the claiming of our climbs.
c) The yearly classement helps the members to be motivated. Now, largely more than 1. 000 members claim each year at least one new big. 1144 precisely in the year 2012 with 319 members claiming more than 10 bigs inside those twelve months.
d) The ironbig boom can't be forgotten in this analysis.
61 in 2010 (year of its creation) , 98 (+37, the 2nd year) and 175 (+77) in 2012 with a real motivation seen in many circumstances. The parallel challenges must stay at their place, below the B.I.G challenge, but can be a good parallel way to keep contact between us. We'll see what the first national challenges which will be opened in the year 2013 will lead to.
e) The contributions aren't very important seeing the percentage of the numbers that they give. 139 contributors in 2008 for 259 in 2012. It increased but it was 8% of the members in 2008 against only 5% in 2012. But well, we are not a financial business association and we have enough money to manage our association like now. If we have one day the intention to grow differently with some important event of promotion, it will certainly be analyzed in a different way. The committee is currently analyzing how to spare and how to spend this money efficiently in the future.
