ITA-170 - Foppolo

REPETTI M A U R O - 28-03-2022:
This climb of the Brembana valley is subdivided in two parts very different, both of 10,5 km each one.
From Lenna to Branzi the first 10,5 km allow you to warm up for the seconf hardest part.
The average slope of 1st part is 3,5 %.
Start is from Lenna (little village with 600 inhabitants) on river Brembo;

From Branzi instead begin the true climb, with an average of 7% and spikes up to 12 %.
The road is enough large, traffic heavy in the weekends cos Foppolo is a famous touristic place for skiing and walking/trekking.
Seven hairpins and seven short tunnels (two of these have a hairpin shape) .

Foppolo welcomed giro d'Italia in 1986 (winner of stage Pedro Munoz - winner of Giro Roberto Visentini)
Foppolo is the highest town in Bergamo province, and was a village of farmers , transformed in touristic village in the last 30 years ;
