ITA-090 - Roccaverano

Climbed the famous side form Mombaldone (217 mt), in the first km you pedal through the famous Calanchi, the friable stone, the greyish sandstone that breaks apart just looking at it; the remains of the fossil shells, and the sunlight that, projected on the bare earth, dazzles ; here, once, there was the sea.
The climb - 9 km - is challenging.
You pass later in a part surrounded by many monuments, a group of dogs hunting a deer, a man dragging a boat, and many others.
Finally you enter in Roccaverano - 530 mt - with its beautiful square and church.
All the historic center is cobbled, there is also a short but evil climb.
The place is known for being the production area of the cheese called Robiola di Roccaverano (buy it in local shop) and for being the Asti municipality at the highest altitude.
