Climb 1,9 km long that is very very hard !!
The start is near the Bologna soccer stadium .
The first km start immediately with a killer slope : first 250 meters avarage slope of 14%, then the second 250 mt avarage slope 13 % !!!
From 500 mt until 1 km u can breathe a little cos slope go down at 9 % and you reach the first of the two arches.
From here the hardest has to come = just after passing under the arch, the 2 famous Orfanelle bends wait you with its 18/20 % (more inside the first bend)
but, if you plan to rest, you did not do the math with the following straight , a 300/400 meters at 18 % that
takes all your last energies.
Finally, the last 400/500 mt drop down at 8% and then 6 % for to reach the enter of the Basilica and the end of this beautiful climb.
A note of mention = the portico - for walking or running - that share the climb with the road is the longest portico in the world - 3,8 km (it starts in the town center with first part flat) and is a famous walk for pilgrimage.
In conclusion, is a great climb that will put a strain on yout body, and has been a great challenge also for the profs in giro dell'Emilia e giro d'Italia.
