SCHOOT Hugo - 18-09-2014:
This climb is the highest paved route that can be climbed on the Bodrum peninsula. There are some unpaved roads that go up to around 400 m but then you need a better bike than I found. After a long search I found Angel rent a car which had 4 MTB's - or supposed to be MTB's. They were all small which is not very good for my 1.90 m. My advise: don't go there! In Bitez beach there is another one supposedly.
Anyway the first bike I got had a completely warped wheel so I went back and changed it to number two. With this one I reached 3 km. On the first serious climb with about 15% incline a pedal broke off... So I went back and planned to give it up. But the guy said he would fix it and indeed within 10 minutes I could start again. I put the saddle a bit higher than the max position which was not a very good idea... On the climb the tube started to bend backward more and more... so after arriving at the top I decided to go back before it would break off. Going back I stood more than sat down. Anyway the best part of the climb is the ancient windmill at the top (see picture).
The climb is completely paved, according to my Garmin the steepest part was 16%.
