GENERAL REPORT ABOUT OUR 2017 TARGETS

After 32 years of life, one can think that nothing new happens in the BIGCycling world. Clic on "read more" and you'll have a precise and detailed summary of our actions during the first six months of the year 2017, about all the topics linked to the BIGCycling activities. Of course, everything can always be better but don't forget that all the persons who work for our AISBL BIGCycling are volunteers, without any payment back. Just passion and union, to put together our wish to show BIGCycling as a must in the cycloclimbing world of the XXIst century.

General report about our 2017 targets

1) to become an AISBL

- we edited precise statutes in January

- we showed those statutes and debated about them with a Notary 3 times in February

- The text of the AISBL was agreeded and the C6 committee and the Notary signed in March

- we paid this official and legal text and signature

- we sent this text to the belgian government for an international official agreement

- we received in May the official international approvement and an enterprise number

We are NOW the official AISBL BIGCycling

2) to get a new bankcount

- we must accept that Fortis Bank-paribas didn't want anymore to work with associations and we must delete our bankcount in this bank

- we took contact with the Triodos Bank, that has a good healthy and earthy vision, near to our activities. Ths TRiodos Bank agrees to open a new bankcount for us, but waiting for the enterprise number.

- In May, when we declared the enterprise nr, the new bankcount was opened and we could transfer the money from our old blocked bankcount to this new one. The members can also now use this new bankcount.

We have NOW a new BANKCOUNT

3) Improvements in the website

- we asked our webmaster to reserve 3 days in 2017 to improve some statements in the BIGCycling website

- Wouter agreeded for one day in June (the 26th) for urgencies, one day in July for the come back of the good features of the old website to the new one (social feed, ...) and one day in December for new features and suggestions of members.

- The 26th of June, we improved 10 topics

* Launch of the Czech Natacha

* New ranking inside the finishers with category S before and category E afterwards, with the date of the last claim as a base for the ranking inside a category.

* New code for coloring the triangles according to the real value of the big or the Natacha. We can now decide to color a triangle if needed, overpassing the calculation based on sometimes unvaluable criteria compared to the neighbourhood of this climb.

* In zone 12, the form was ameliorated with the obligation to fill the boxes, the addition of an Openrunner nr if needed, and the possibility to add an attachment. More security to add a new top out of Europe in our database, too !

* We lost the tracks on the maps when we changed some datas in the database. Now, this problem is fixed and the track stays visible.

* There were problems with the claims. About the pages of members with not yet claims, that occurs an error message, it's fixed. About the uncorrect last claim appearing in the pages, it's fixed. The claims in the Natachas appear now below your claims in the superlist. We have still in July to fix some mistakes linked to claims in zone+ or old bigs and to forbide the claiming over 164 bigs without contribution.

* The colors of the menus weren't correct. It's now fixed.

* Sometimes, linked to our numerous national challenges, the button "next BIG" didn't work and led to nr 1 of the superlist. Now it's often fixed (90%). But some way to come in some pages (10%) keep this mistake. Not so grave !

* The end of some profiles show sometimes 34% or -15% and sounds strange. It was due to the fix altitude of the top. Now this top is not more fixed as an altitude, the profiles are good but our database group is working for, one by one, showing in agreement the profile and the top's altitude. Long work until the end of this year 2017.

4) Amelioration of the communication

* Inside the committee, the secretary sends, a few times a year, summaries of the works done and the works to do

* Outside the committee, news in the homepage and the text every six months that you have in front of your eyes, are linked to those improvements

* We try to answer to all your requests as soon as possible but we are just volunteers and sometimes not at home for professional works. In those cases, the president answers to the members to wait for the come back of the manager.

* Like in all the associations, we often receive suggestions from members but also critics (sometimes hard). We answer to them, to all of them. Those answers need time, take time. But we must do it according to the fact that members who sent those messages are passionated by our activity. But sometimes too, we must answer "no" linked to our general strategy and our general ethic. Sometimes, too, it takes a few months to decide something about a suggestion and it's quite normal.

* We were in april with Skype in a direct link with personnalities in Hungary for a french feast there and the celebration of the tour de France and the selection of the BIGCycling world to represent the cycloclimbing activities

5) Preparation of the AG 2018

* Linked to our new statutes, we must now manage a general assembly one time a year.

* We sent a message to the large committee for threm being able to give a feedback and to suggest something for this AG

* We prepared the general organiszation with obligatory topics and other ones : moral report, financial report, changes in the statutes, changes in the rules, changes in the superlist, changes in the website, others.

* About the changes in the superlist, it appeared during those months that 6 bigs have problems : Pereval Nikitskiy and Ai-Petri in Criema (Ukraine-Russia) because of war, Winterbergstraße and Gleinalmsattel according to interdictions to clycle there, Cemerno and Crkvine according to trafic and the transformation of the road. The newlist group worked in agreement with the members'suggestions to find new bigs to take their place and suggest them in the AG 2018.

6) Evolution of the National Challenges

* The 1st of january, the Natacha in Andorra had its launch. The 1st of July, the Czech Natacha has its launch too ! The newlist group prepared 25 climbs in Andorra and 150 climbs in Czech Republic, with all their sides and all their datas. 6 months of work every time !

* The database manager transfer them from our official xls with a script into our database.

* Every six months, a new one appears with the list and the details of the climbs, the classement between our members and a page "news" to explain the movements in this national challenge.

* Many members are working on their coming national challenges in Germany (nearly done!), in France (long work since 2 years now), in Luxemburg, but there are also beginnings in Montenegro, Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales and Feroe islands.

7. First order of the new clothes and creation of new material

* The material manager was in connexion with the Santini enterprise to create new clothes. With our designer, the design of the clothes appears in our website

* members had the ability to pre-order those clothes and now with the new bankcount to pay those pre-orders

* In agreement with our financial possibilities, we make a first general order to Santini enterprise

* We asked to and received from our designer, the design of the coming stickers and diplomas and we wait for the financial results of the clothes' orders to begin the works about those materials

8. Edition, printing and distribution of the annual review

* According to new problems, we must delay the review but it was edited and distributed one month later. The problems were the lack of a bankcount and the lost of our usual printer. We edited them with a new shape of covers, the result is a little worse than before but not so much and the review stays as a memory of our association.

9. Organizations of the meetings, suggestions of crossroads

* Thanks to the wish and the capacity of organization of some great members, the official meeting in Adriatica was a success.

* As an habit, the national meeting in Hungary was also a success.

* The belgian/Luxemburg one and the german one was delayed to autumn 2017. Every time, the pages presenting those meetings evoluted.

* There were many suggestions of crossroads and every time, an invitation was shown in the homepage. Some examples : Creta, Sicilia, Spain, Ex-USSR, North-America,...

10. Corrections in the database

* Around 30 bigs received since the beginning of the year improvements and corrections in their datas. Many members sent those corrections. Sometimes, they sent critics afterwards before nothing moved but it requested time. Why ? First, we must verify their suggestion. Secondly, we must create a new Openrunner to edit the new tracks with the new datas. Thirdly and finally, we must transfer this openrunner to the database of the website. The list is long but we don't forget them.

11. Ailleurs / Higher every month

* Every month, currently, 2 invitations to have a better knowledge of one big outside the wellknown battlefields of the cycloclimbing world are edited in the review "ailleurs/higher" inside our website. It's a window to the cycloclimbing whole world and it's a lot of interesting PDF for those who like to travel, to discover new reasons to climb everywhere.

12. Reactions to problems

During those 6 months, linked to deep critics or strong and main suggestions of mainly the top20 of our classement, we had to debate about many topics and we did. The edition of the page habits and customs was and is always a strong debate, linked to possible cheaters and examples to show for the top20 members; special cases of claims out of Europe with so many detailed borderline suggestions and the difficulty to explain in a rule what the spirit of the association since the beginning has in its aim stays as a difficult problem, the lack of quick reaction to some messages from some members in the committee needed the explanation every time that we are only volunteers, we had to answer to the request of new passwords, and so on...
