The main techs data speaks clearly : av 10,3 % - max 20 % - drop mt 1339 x 13 km, ; this climb has nothing to envy to the most famous killer cimbs, like Mortirolo o Zoncolan.
In the first 5 km from Tirano (mt 430), until upper houses of Baruffini (mt 800), there's an av slope of 10 % with max 18-20% after church hairpin ; we pedal through beautiful vineyards with view on Tirano, Lovero until Tresenda ; after Piazzo crossroad and for subsequent 5,5 km, climb is a little easier ; we enter in the forest then, narrow road, tarmac regular.
Last 2,5 km are terribile, very hard ; av % 13 with 20-22 % max until the end of tarmac, at old Finance police barrack (mt 1761);
here in the 70ies was famous the smuggling of cigarettes, coffee, sugar.....from Switzeralnd to Italy ; many "Smuggling tracks" are available today.
Need agile gears , recommended compact 34 and at least 29 in the back; almost no traffic (road used only by residents/mountain holiday houses)
In conclusion, a very respectable climb.
PS superb old style restaurant in Baruffini (ask Mauro Repetti x infos) , where u can taste local specialities (pizzocheri, sciatt, taroz.......), after the climb clearly !!!!
