Climbed from Voltaggio (AL-Piemonte) (red side) - dont forget taste famous Amaretti done here.
I can tell you don't be fooled by the average slope of 3,1 % because there are many descent during the climb, for about 200 meters, so at the end the difference slope in meters are not 568 but almost 800.
I think in my more than 20 years of climbing, never happened that NO ONE CAR overtake me in the climb !!!!!
I always said that Apennines are a paradise for cyclists !!
This climb runs through lands where there was many Partisans fights with Nazi, so you can see many remembering of this sad part of our history.
Tarmac is very bumpy, dirty and with potholes (3 features of Apennines) ; a little (50 mt) cobbled section near the remains of Benedicta Abbey (destroyed by Fascist)
At the top a bench wait you, where u can rest a moment watching beautiful and peaceful panorama.
