UKD-201 - Heath Hill (incl. Gibb Lane & Halifax Lane)

The north east side up from Halifax has one harrowing section on the route called Gibb Lane. This is extremely steep section with cobbles and a and a left hand bend on it. Wide tyre bike recommended - and I agree with Mauro, Also the Happy Valley mini series is worth viewing to really appreciate Yorkshire life

I climbed the BLACK side, from Luddenden, passing through Birch Lane.
climb all on tarmac from this side, the beginning is just at 16-18 %, then you turn left in Birch Lane, where a couple of alpine style hairpins 20-22% wait you.
after these, the landscape opens up and the slope goes down until the junction with Heath hill road.
Turn left and a gentle gradient will lead you to the top, with BEAUTIFUL panorama of the CLASSIC Yorkshire, what a wonderful place !!
I climbed in december 2021 with 0 degrees !
PS = in 2003 the National Hill Climb Uk Champ ran here (black track - Raw End road), and cyclists said it was one of the toughest climbs ridden.
PS2 = EXACTLY to the top of this climb, they have filmed a scene of Uk movie serie HAPPY VALLEY = in the series n 1, episode n 3 are clearly visible the last 500 meters of the climb and the top (police car chase the white van)
