Very nice climb from the lake of Lugano (mt 293), this 9 km long road bring you in a wonderful panoramic place.
But lets start from the bottom ; you can park just at the end of Via Cortivo, where climb start (pay and display)
Road has many hairpins (17) and tarmac is perfect ; a note about traffic = zero during week, heavy in the week end (so try to avoid sat and sundays).
After 7,5 km you reach Bre’ village, you take a narrow road that at 900 meters from the end become gravel (some cement also) , rideable with road bike ; I would like to point out the presence of some (large) channels (for rain drainage) in this last part that leads from Bre’ to the summit.
A big building (restaurant-hotel) signals that you’re at the top, a terrace permit you enjoy an amazing view on Lugano and sorrounding : you can see Monte Generoso (a Big), Sighignola (a Nat Ita) , Parco S.Grato (a Nat Ch) and many other places that a plate up there explain you.
On the climb you’ll meet also the funicular that leads to top from Lugano.
Average 6,6 % and a bit at 14% make this climb rideable with a regular pace.
PS = worth a visit by walk (start from bottom climb - Via Cortivo) the amazing village of Gandria (2,5 km walk through a wonderful path), a village that will bring you in the past (no cars, only accessible by boat or on foot) - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gandria
