With is 11 % average and 18,5 % max, Cavajone is a hard climb in Graubunden region in Suisse.
Almost 900 mt drop, it starts just hard, with a long steep straight ;
curve after curve you gained altitude and after passing the last stretch and the final tunnel this nest of houses appeared from which you have a spectacular view of Tirano and sorrounding mounts.
It is a settlement clinging to the mountain on the right side of Valposchiavo, few kilometers from italian border.
The houses at 1200-1500 meters give life to tiny districts, that today is almost abandoned. Only few men and women, already advanced in years, still live there all year.
The road did not arrive until after the mid-20th century. Its construction lasted for seven years and finally allowed the people of Cavaione to reach the bottom comfortably.
From the climb you can see another Suisse-Nat, Viano Dogana, on the mount on other side of the valley.
