This climb is - for difficulty -at the 3rd place of "Liguria Sanctuary climbs" after Madonna Guardia e M. Alassio.
Monte Gazzo is an isolated little mountain behind Genova.
Very unusual climb that can be divided in 3 parts:
first 2 km into Sestri Ponente (Genova) and its buildings (with some meters at 14-16%) ,
2 km not hard just left the last houses and final part in a solitary wood (with last 200 mt to the church at 16 %).
On top the big Madonna (in an external niche of the church) and wonderful panorama from top on Genova, its industries and shipyards, its forts plus Apennines and Alps.
Just in front of you the Genova Airport, obtained by filling the sea with material taken from a nearby hill.
Pay attention to the traffic in the city, then once you leave the houses everything becomes quieter.
Asphalt ok.
Car Park = IMPOSSIBLE find park in Genova (city ​​squeezed between sea and mountains) ; I suggest do half climb with car and park in Via Rollino 40, after last houses (on the left ) or go to the top (big space up there)
