The classic side from Ghiare (20 km), contains a couple of false-flat, that reduce the average slope at 3,7 %, but is a climb not to be underestimated, with some pieces at 10-11 % (hardest part before Berceto between km 5 and 9).
After Berceto 8,5 km where u can use the big front ring.
Tarmac not bad and large road (only short and cobbled narrow part near Berceto cathedral).
Landscape composed of meadows and chestnut trees, with the presence of the high viaducts of the Cisa motorway.
U cross two medieval villages, Roccaprebalza and Berceto (famous for partisan fights and uphill car racing (where Enzo Ferrari raced as a young man, see plates in Poggio Ferrari leaving Berceto).
At the top (which marks the border between Parma and Massa C.) there are some shops selling typical products and the Madonna Guardia church with a beautiful staircase.
The road was started in 1809 and was famous for trade.
The Giro has passed a dozen times.
