I did this climb on 4-6-2021 from the west side. Nice climb with views on Sicilie and the Etna, But it is mainly a long and heavey climb, without any place to get water, I thought. But at the junction after 25 km witn the little chapel and the Jesus-cross, at the right side there is a well. I missed it, but saw it in the descent.
But what spoiled my day was the last 6 km of the climb: going up and down, very very bad road, no specific endpoint: not even a tree to park my bike. That is why I led down my bike on the road, like others did. It would be a delight for future climbers if the last 6 km were cancelled: it only makes a 100 meter of DOL and after the mainly climbing section there is a clear information-panel.
