Today I did this climb from the east-side and went down the westside. The east side is short and very easy, the west side longer and steeper. Both good tarmac. But on my ascent the Bigroute leaves the mainroad at the Collado de la Gitane. This road is blocked by a beam: you should not pass. I did, the road had bad asphalt and later it became a gravelroad. At the end it was the skitrack, because I was cycling along the snowcannons. At the top suddenly was asphalt, big parkingplaces etc. And also the main road with which I could do the descent. My suggestion is to forget the side road (because not asphalt for 1,5 km) and just keep on going on the main road which leads also to the top.

Vous partez de Villaroya de los Pinares (1.325 m), au pied ouest du Puerto de Villaroya (BIG 449).
Vous prenez la A-226 jusqu’au Puerto de Sollavientos (km 6 – 1.509 m), puis à gauche au SE la TE-V-3 vers le Puerto de Valdelinares (km 18.5 – 1.836 m). Vous descendez ensuite plein sud pendant 2 km et vous rejoindrez à droite la route NE traditionnelle.
Soit 27 km et 820 m de dénivellé (car 170 mètres de descente).
